AARP's Healthcare Blues and Its Never Ending Lies
By Carole Wade
The Wall Street Journal's August 21st, 2009 article "AARP Takes Heat
Over Health Stand" explains why AARP members are quitting the
organization. Maybe it is because of David Certner's interview on
the Bill O'Reilly show on August 11th.

Certner comes across again and again as a smug, snarling, smirking liar
-- a disgrace to the past professionalism of the AARP's full-time paid
staffers. Replacing its new staffers would be a good beginning to
getting AARP back to its roots of representing "older" people.
David Certner's and David Sloane's nonsense about forty million plus
Americans who currently lack health insurance coverage needs to be
refuted. Millions of young men choose to engage in "extreme
sports" like snowboarding outside the boundaries of ski slopes,
skateboarding in traffic and everywhere else, surfing alongside
breakwaters where the waves are larger, motorcycling without helmets,
and on and on.
Millions upon millions of young women drive giant SUV trucks while
texting and screaming on their cell-phones. They are seen
constantly notwithstanding the legal prohibitions here in California
and elsewhere too.
Tradespeople in their forties and fifties tell us -- now that President
Obama is pushing his health care program so aggressively -- that they
have cancelled their employer-provided coverage because the eighty
dollar monthly co-insurance or co-pay charges are interfering with
their purchases of Global Positioning devices for their pick-up
trucks. They sacrifice their health insurance for GPS instead of
reading road maps!
Why should the AARP's current group of health care policy staffers
bankrupt its elderly members to cover these many millions of
individuals uninsured by their own choice?
